The Ultimate Feminist Feline Holiday Wishlist and Book Geek GIVEAWAY!

Now that there is only a week left of November, it’s time for some holiday cheer!

Stores are already setting up their displays, the radio stations are starting to play “It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas,” and you’ve pulled your winter gear out from the back of your closet, ready to brace the forthcoming snow (at least it hasn’t gotten to DC yet. Can’t say the same for Buffalo!).

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

The best part of the holidays is not only the music, snow, and chunky knits. It’s also a time for exchanging gifts with the people you love the most. I’ve compiled a list of the top five gifts for the Feminist Feline in your life. They’re all things I wouldn’t mind getting myself. 😛 (I hope that Santa reads my blog!)

So hear it is, the top five gifts for the feline-friendly feminist in your life!

  1. Yes Please by Amy Poehler

Why? Because Amy Poehler. No explanation is needed, but her organization Smart Girls at the Party (which encourages young girls to ignore harmful cultural messages that tell them to value their looks over their intelligence) is pretty freakin’ amazing.

  1. Not that Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham
Steve Ginsburg & Maria Buda

Why? Because Girls is a show for women, starring women, created by women. It’s a feminist triple threat! With so few multi-dimensional roles for women in television and film, we must support the woman who is breaking the glass ceiling (or the red carpet?) in the entertainment industry.

  1. The Ultimate Feminist Feline T-shirt
pro-cats baseball tee

Why? Because the best feminists are also cat people!

  1. The Secret History of Wonder Woman by Jill Lepore

Why? I first hear about this book when the author, Harvard Professor Jill Lepore was interviewed on The Colbert Report. Wonder Woman is the original feminist icon and since I’m not a comics person, I would love to learn more about the superhero who predated Superman.

5. Arya Stark Action Figure by Funko POP

Every single time I go to Barnes and Noble I need to use all my self-control to not buy the Arya Stark Game of Thrones action figure. I could write an entire post about Arya but OOPS I already did! Check out the 10 Reasons Why Arya Stark is the Baddest Bitch in Westeros.

The real #1 girft on every Feminist Feline’s wishlist is (another) cat! 😀

Now here’s the part of the post you’ve all been waiting for…

  • I love this list! I’m definitely going to have to check out those books, and yay for Arya! I love that she has her own action figure now, haha. :] I refuse to pick favorite characters on GoT because I feel like the second I do, they’re gonna die, but I *cough* am always rooting for her *cough*.

I’m not sure if you do these, but I’m nominating you for the Liebster Award! More info can be found here!: http://www.fairyburger.com/no-bake-peach-crumble :]

    • Corinne Falotico

Arya is my favorite too! But I totally agree that it’s risky to pick favorites! And thank you for the nomination!

  • Brenda

I love these! I would love the Wonder Women book as well. She fascinates me!

    • Corinne Falotico

      Isn’t she the best?!

  • Amy Poeler and Lena Dunham – I couldn’t be more in love with these ladies! Cant wait to read Lenas book!

    Miche from Buttons and Birdcages

    • Corinne Falotico

      Same here!!

  • Rebecca P.

I really want an Excalibur Dehydrator for Christmas, haha!

    • Corinne Falotico

I just had to google that haha. It sounds cool but you may need to hide it when GW does dorm checks! Don’t want them to take it away from you! They took my toaster once 🙁

  • I wish kittens were in my stockings like your first photo!

    • Corinne Falotico

      Haha me too!!
